The Summer of the West Coast: Seattle

Saraheat, wander

Here we are, one week into autumn. While I absolutely love fall weather, pumpkin lattes and colorful leaves, I am sad to see summer come to a close. My husband and I had an amazing summer filled with new adventures. With all of our traveling to the west coast, I discovered that I may love the west coast more than the east coast. I don’t know if I have a strong enough case study quite yet, but there’s something wonderful in the air… or it could truly be the joy from fulfilling my wanderlust! Anyways, we loved our super short Seattle visit! We … Read More

The Summer of the West Coast: San Francisco

Saraheat, wander

Why have I never traveled to California until this year? San Francisco is an amazing city. There is so much to do that our few days there were definitely not enough! We’ll visit again. We were so happy to stay with one of our good friends who lives in the city now and has an incredible career at Google. As soon as we arrived, we grabbed some brunch across the street from Twitter at Little Griddle. It was delicious! We tried to walk to her apartment after eating, but carrying around luggage is not super fun, so we grabbed an Uber … Read More

On The Menu: Green Breakfast Smoothie

Saraheat

I love to start the morning off with something delicious and filling that doesn’t weigh me down and doesn’t encourage a late morning nap as some breakfast items tend to do. I started making this green breakfast smoothie a few years ago after finding a recipe online and absolutely love it. The hardest part about making this smoothie is cleaning the blender! I can’t remember the exact recipe I used in the beginning, but based on some quality Google searches, I believe my recipe was inspired by Angela’s Classic Green Monster recipe at Oh She Glows! I typically don’t have chia seeds … Read More

What To Say To Your Friend Who Is Going To Visit Asheville…

Sarahasheville, eat

YOU BETTER LIKE BEER. I’ve been in Asheville for a year and a half and I feel like new breweries are popping up every other month. I’m not complaining, though, I love it! Some breweries just serve beer, others serve a full menu and some have food trucks visiting regularly. Even if you aren’t a huge beer fan, the breweries in Asheville all have great design and events that makes brewery crawls a blast. Inspired by the warm weather yesterday and dreaming of summertime, I came up with this Asheville brewery guide (including a few notable breweries just outside of Asheville). Sit tight, Asheville … Read More

Good Morning, Mayfel’s

Sarahasheville, eat

My husband, Brent, and I absolutely adore living in downtown Asheville. The luxury of walking to breakfast on the weekends is probably one of our favorite parts about our new address. This morning we braved the 20 degree temperatures (actually warm in comparison to last week!) and walked the 3 blocks to Mayfel’s across from Pritchard Park – home of the Asheville drum circle. We’ve been here about 4 times now and have tried something different every time we’ve visited and haven’t been let down yet. Mayfel’s is a southern-style, eclectic Asheville restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner and has some incredible, … Read More
