What I’m Looking Forward To: March

Sarahart, asheville, dwell, fete, wander

I can’t believe March has arrived. Raise your hand if you are overwhelmed we are already 2 months into 2015?! I sure am! Although the winter can be beautiful, I’m thrilled we are moving toward…

Twenty more days until Spring begins. Winter is my least favorite season… I don’t mind the snow, but having to bundle up all the time and have the wind burn my skin is not how I like to live. The sunshine makes me fall in love with Asheville again – there’s so much to do when you can walk around outside!!

I am so excited for my friend Ilana’s bachelorette and wedding shower weekend celebration in Maryland! I grew up dancing with Ilana at Kinetics Dance Theatre, danced with her at James Madison University where she introduced me to Brent, and danced with her at Dogwood Dance Company in Richmond before I moved to Asheville. She was in my wedding party, so needless to say, I am so. so. happy for her!

I also love excuses to get everyone together again and what could be more fun than a girls weekend with some of my favorite people from JMU! I’m flying into Baltimore early to spend some time with my mom and sister before the bachelorette/bridal shower weekend commences. I’ll probably swing by Nordstrom and then my sister and I plan to create Harry Potter inspired cocktails. [I’ll be sure to share any success stories!] Friday night the festivities will start and keep going through Sunday evening. I can’t wait!

Kyle Abraham/Abraham.In.Motion is coming to the Diana Wortham Theatre in downtown Asheville! I am stoked for this performance. Abraham refers to his richly evocative work as “a postmodern gumbo” and has received multiple awards and honors including the MacArthur ‘Genius’ Award in 2013. The company aims to “delve into identity in relation to a personal history” and from the reviews I’ve read, their mission succeeds on stage. Unfortunately, they are not presenting a technique class for the community before, but I’ll just have to watch their movement and use the performance to inspire me.

The performances at the Diana Wortham Theatre are on March 24 & 25th at 8PM. Tickets are $40 for adults, $35 for students and $20 for children. Purchase your tickets by visiting Diana Wortham.

One of my goals for March is to pump up my exercise routine. I joined the YMCA (Have you seen the Biltmore Park location??! It is stunning.) and have set a goal to attend at least 4 classes a week. For the times when I can’t make it to a workout class, I found this awesome 15 minute (if you do it twice) inner thigh workout that BURNS. Beach season is in 3 months, so here we go…
